Cutting

One blade, one bright point

The glowing point at the cut is the only warm light in the scene. It turns a grey machine into a picture without flattering the machine.

Forming

A ram, held up

The ram stays up and never drops. A press at rest says more about the force than one mid-stroke — and it can be flown through in eight seconds.

Assembly

Three sides fixed, one open

The open fourth side is where an assembly becomes readable. A finished part tells you nothing; a half-finished one tells you the order of the work.

Inspection

A frame and its reflection

The surface plate is the only scene in which nothing moves. It is there because dimensional accuracy is what a manufacturer gets paid for — and because a reflection makes the glossiest image in the whole world.

Dispatch

Four pallets, one already up

The end of the chain is a loaded truck. That one pallet is already up while four still wait is the only hint of time this world needs.

Afterwards

Everything put away, lights off

The seventh scene was not in the brief, and it is the best one: a manufacturer takes pride in order, not in activity. The empty hall says more about the company than any running machine.
